This place is definitely neither a Turkish bath nor a Russian bath. I absolutely do not recommend it in any way. Five of us went together, and it was unbelievably bad and rundown. It has absolutely nothing to do with a proper bathhouse or sauna. I strongly advise against going there. It was an incredibly bad experience for me. Honestly, your own home’s bathroom is much better than this place.

Russian & Turkish Baths Introduce

Located in the heart of New York City at 268 E 10th St, the Russian & Turkish Baths offers a distinct and historical sauna experience. As a part of the 'Spa Near Me' category, this establishment provides traditional bathing services with a focus on authenticity.

The facility features multiple saunas, steam rooms, showers, and a cold plunge, allowing visitors to engage in a classic thermal bathing ritual. It's important to note that the environment is described by some as having an "old-school feel," and it retains much of its original structure, which may not appeal to those seeking modern amenities.

Customer reviews indicate a wide range of experiences. Some patrons praise the establishment for its unique and historical atmosphere, emphasizing its authenticity and the availability of multiple saunas and steam rooms. They appreciate the chance to experience a traditional bathing ritual. However, other reviews express significant dissatisfaction, citing the facility as rundown and not reflective of a proper Turkish or Russian bathhouse. These reviews strongly discourage visiting, suggesting that the conditions are subpar.

If you're looking for a historically preserved sauna experience and appreciate authenticity over modern renovations, the Russian & Turkish Baths may offer a unique visit. However, be prepared for a potentially rustic environment. It is advisable to go with realistic expectations.

Very unique experience! You will love this place, as long as you go in with the right expectations. They keep the structure similar to what I imagine it was 100 years ago- it has a very old school feel, and is not renovated/ modern by any means. If you can appreciate it for its history and authenticity, then you’ll love it. There were 3 saunas, 2 steam rooms, showers, and a cold plunge! I went on a weekend around 5pm and while it was packed, there was still enough room to do everything!

Saw this place on an episode of Billions years ago they were getting the Platza Oil leaf treatment and I’ve been wanting to come try it ever since. Every time visiting NYC I never make it until tonight! I spent several hours going back and forth from the hot rooms to the cold plunge then I tried the Platza. I enjoyed the entire experience. Wonderful staff, clean facilities, and great value. I felt like a million bucks leaving there.

Way too noisy and crowded! We went on a cold winter day to get a nice and relaxing spa experience; but it was nothing like that. The place was packed and people were talking soooo loudly, it was like being at a bar. Our ears even hurt afterwards. Also a lot of people in a small space so it feels cramped and uncomfortable, passing through people in their swimwear, and everyone staring at you. This place would be really nice if they had a maximum capacity rule and especially: a quiet policy!! Avoid spending 60$ on this!!

We visited on a David day around 12:30pm on a Monday after a long weekend of sightseeing and wedding festivities. It was not busy at all at first but gradually started filling up as the afternoon went on. The common areas are all co-ed except for the locker rooms. There is a men’s locker room and women’s locker room. We handed our wallets in at the front desk after paying for 1 day passes and got our own locker keys. They give you a key to both men’s and women’s locker rooms on the same wristband which was nice because you can choose which side you want to use rather than someone else choosing for you. There were lots of other visibly queer people around, as well as people of varying ages and body types and everyone minds their business other than some polite and friendly conversation with the other patrons. My partner dropped their locker key at one point and someone even came up and returned it. We each got a platza and a 30 minute massage from Sasha who was very kind and genuinely wanted to give us a great experience! We were both full of tension and definitely left with happy and relaxed muscles. The borscht and chicken soup were the perfect way to end our visit and tasted delicious and homemade. The facilities were all very clean and there are plenty of fresh towels and slippers available although you may prefer to bring your own shoes. If you’re expecting a first class spa situation you will be disappointed. It’s a communal bathhouse in the basement of a very old building so naturally it’s very wet downstairs but everything is very well maintained and the staff are very attentive. The total for 2 people including treatments, massages, food, and tips was about $400 which felt very reasonable compared to some other actual spas we were looking at. I think we spent around four hours there cycling through the different saunas and hot rooms. This will definitely be a mandatory stop the next time we find ourselves in NY and i’m so glad we decided to venture out and try something new! I can’t recommend it enough and I hardly ever leave reviews but this place really exceeded all my expectations and felt extremely comfortable. I can’t wait to come back!
