So- good and bad about the spa: Good- Their robes were very long and comfy. The massage itself was decent. There is a separate sauna and steam room in each locker room. Locker rooms are good sized and comfortable Each treatment room has its own bath and toilet which is awesome! Bad- It’s a confusing to get to the actual spa. You have to take 3 different elevators The spa itself is built very bizarrely and inconveniently. You have to check in/out on the 11th floor, then go to the treatment room on the 9th floor and for amenities you have to go to the 10th floor. They never gave a tour of the spa or explained anything properly. There is no relaxation room or at least they never told us about it so no hangout or unlimited tea and water A lot of time gets wasted in going up and down the floors and it eats into your treatment time She started the massage without any towel or wrap for the hair. At the end of the massage all my hair was drenched in oil. It was a gift for my moms birthday. I asked them to do something special and they basically said to take a hike, nicely tho. Also, it’s super priced with the $175 day pass that is mandatory.

I am a spa enthusiast and received gift cards from friends to various spas in NYC, the Aman spa being one of them. My gift card was for $200, so I knew I would still have to pay in order to get a treatment but have been wanting to check out the Aman spa so had no problem with that. I called to make an appointment and was shocked by the policy they have implemented for people who have gift cards - in order to use the gift card, you are required to both purchase a spa day pass ($175) and book a 90 minute service (starting over $450), which with taxes and fees comes out to over $700. This is just to be able to enter the spa to use a gift card. I asked if I could just use my gift card towards a spa day pass, to which they said no. I have been to hundreds of extremely high end luxe spas across the world and have never heard of this policy. I also couldn’t find any language around this policy on the gift card disclaimers or Aman website. It’s bizarre that you cannot even use a gift card unless the minimum you spend is $700 (this is the exact amount the spa associate told me on the phone). Anyways, I also had a gift card to the Mandarin Oriental Spa so I used that instead and had a great experience (and wasn’t required to follow any bizarre rules).

Spent all day at the spa yesterday for my wife’s birthday. The spa itself is beautiful and everything is designed so well. Now for the bad/question marks… I frequent luxury spas all over the world and especially NYC. I was expecting this to be like something i never experienced before. An out of this world experience but unfortunately it was very far from that. I was not impressed by the facilities/amenities. Aside of the pool being beautiful, the facilities were small and unimpressive. They miss so many details. No relaxation room, no snacks, water, teas etc, literally nothing. Try to relax in the sauna steam room area but unfortunately it was so busy and overrun with there members coming in after work to shower change get ready for dinner etc. I could not even find a place to sit and change to busy. Was not expecting that at all. Way to busy for my liking/expectations. You would think at that price point they would have more amenities, even water we couldn’t find anywhere including the pool. No hot tub. No hammam. No tea. Overall I think you would have a better experience at the peninsula spa, mandarin oriental or shibui spa. This just seems like an overpriced “you pay for the name” type of place. You can find a much better overall luxury experience for half the cost. I would be fine paying that price point with an unbelievable experience. This unfortunately was not that. Front desk Staff was very nice and accommodating though. I just think they missed the mark on so many things.

Hotel is gorgeous. Service was excellent- kudos to the employees. 2 star because the massage I had was terrible. I asked her to stop so I could just leave. It was just a waste of oily time. That bad. The manager said she was one of the best so that’s troubling. My husbands message was not great either (grade of C for him).

Esin at the Aman was absolutely incredible. It was evident she was extremely knowledgeable about the body. I had a 60 minute deep tissue massage and it was truly the best massage I have ever had!
